The goal of this project was to create a visual identity for the band Móey. The brief called for a blend of Y2K, fantasy, and gangster aesthetics.

After the band was formed, they approached me to design all of their visual material. The first deliverable was the logo, followed by a series of cover designs, visual assets, and promotional content developed as the project evolved.

Logo

The logo for Móey was designed as a Y2K-inspired emblem incorporating the band’s name alongside a star, a key visual motif within their overall identity. The design reflects the group’s aesthetic direction while reinforcing the recurring symbolic elements central to their branding.

Önnur Nótt

Önnur Nótt is a single by Móey, released on 13 July 2023.

The track was originally titled 7 Stjörnur, which informed the use of star-based visual elements in the design. The brief called for a Y2K-inspired aesthetic that aligned with the mood and tone of the song, shaping both the typography and overall visual direction.

Selective hearing

Selective Hearing is a single by Móey, featuring Bleache and Plasticboy, released on 10 April 2024.

The central design concept revolves around an NOKIA-style phone motif combined with traphouse aesthetics, creating a contrast between domestic familiarity and urban edge.

A promotional video and Spotify canvas were also developed to accompany the track.

These two concepts were initially developed as variants for an unreleased album.

They were later repurposed and refined into standalone visuals.

Assets

The eyeball is an asset for an upcoming music video by Snorri, a member of Móey. As of now, I only have a proof of concept.

The eyeball is made out of two different objects. The first one is the eye itself, which is a simple sphere with an inset region to create the pupil area. The eye object uses gradient textures to mask colour regions, along with a gradient texture for the colour, which goes from black for the pupil, different hues of blue for the iris, off-white for the sclera, and red for the back end. A Voronoi and Noise texture node were used along with a Bump node to create the texture of the iris. An image texture of veins was used to place the veins on the eyeball itself.

The cornea object has a dome extrusion where the eye object has the pupil inset, and uses the transmission and specular from the Principled shader along with a Glass shader to create the glossy look of the cornea.
